"Greetings from ELYRIA, OHIO"
You have arrived in the year 1970
Midway Mall
In August 1967, a new indoor shopping center opens
on the northern edge of Elyria. It has banks, shoe stores, department stores,
restaurants, record stores, movie theaters, and parking. In the space of just a
few years, many downtown Elyria stores move to the mall or close for good. A new
business district is born, and downtown Elyria enters a period of rapid change.

Street begins to take shape.

And so, as one chapter closes, another begins.
